ALL Children Thrive is ambitious by design.
Our children need and deserve nothing less.
All Children Thrive (ACT) was designed to build a movement of communities engaged in transformative work to prioritize and optimize children's health and wellbeing. Places - including neighborhoods, cities, counties, regions, and states - are implementing and testing changes to reverse trends of diminishing child health outcomes. By connecting these places in an adaptive learning system, ACT will spark sharing of best practices, development of innovative solutions to shared challenges, and ultimately, the development of sustainable systems and policies that ensure that all children have an opportunity to thrive.
All Children Thrive will enable participating places to achieve transformative changes in their child-serving systems as measured by healthy births, thriving toddlers, and flourishing children who are ready for school, reading at grade level, and succeeding academically and socially. ACT is purposely ambitious and aspirational, designed to build momentum as it supports innovation-minded places in combining local resources and expertise with emerging strategies and tools from around the globe.
All Children Thrive aims to connect and engage communities throughout the nation.
ACT recognizes that far too many children are denied the opportunity to develop the capabilities that will allow them to flourish. Current opportunities for children to thrive and flourish are not equally distributed, and many children are denied the supports and resources necessary to thrive. In addition, many families are marginalized, which alters their perceptions of what is possible for them.
By engaging the different service providers, community organizations and institutions that impact how children grow, develop, live, learn, and play, ACT provides an opportunity to inform new strategies, identify emerging solutions, and accelerate and support learning, innovation and improvement so that all children can pursue healthy and successful futures.
ACT seeks to utilize these disruptive changes and emergent trends to enable communities to create and spread innovative approaches, that transform the capacity of our faltering and failing health care, education, early childhood and youth service systems, so that much better results are achieved. By displacing institutional dominance, ACT aims to promote social innovation that is not only beneficial for society, but also builds capacity and sustainability.
ACT is an innovation movement for wholesale systems transformation (not a demonstration project)
ACT communities recognize that it will take an "all-in" strategy for all children to thrive
ACT involved parents and community members in co-design and co-creation
ACT communities will engage and mobilize traditional children's health care providers, but also their schools, community centers, city government, local businesses, and everyone else
ACT innovations and improvements will spread, scale, and catalyze other improvements in child health and wellbeing
ACT communities are testing innovative public and private financing strategies to produce value, incentivize outcomes, and achieve long-term results
"The care of children, and the health of children, requires looking at the child and the family and the neighborhood in a holistic fashion. Excellent education, stable housing, food security—all of the things that help children thrive."
